Volvo’s Lost In Forks: The Final Phase
At 10:00am Pacific Time Volvo’s final phase of the Lost In Forks game kicked off, but not without its share of problems. Many Where Is Edward Cullen readers have complained on our Lost In Forks hints post that they are unable to get the game to load or work, even though they were sent a confirmation email inviting them to the final phase. While many have done everything from switching browsers, to clearing their browser’s cache, nothing seems to be resolving the issue.
Other commenter’s are complaining that the game is experiencing significant lag, which is unfortunate since the ability to win is based on the amount of time it takes to complete the final phase. However, that being said, we are getting reports of various readers who have already completed the phase and felt that it was much easier than they expected. One in fact referred to it as “lame”. Have you played the final round of Lost In Forks? What are your thoughts?
We’ve also started a new thread in our recently announced forums, that you can comment on here

I didn’t mind the final phase, but am disappointed in people that are giving away the answers on the internet, and using multiple emails to cheat. I am trying really hard to win the volvo fairly, because I am in desperate need of a car, aside from the fact that I enjoy the series.
I hope that the cheaters are caught and not allowed to win, it’s unfair for the rest of us who are really trying.

It was listed in the rules that if you use multiple emails you will be disqualified.

“It was listed in the rules that if you use multiple emails you will be disqualified.” Well if it say that, it MUST be true! Cause it’s not like there’s any possible way to use a 2nd email with fake ID/address just so you can practice without being found out.
It just surprising to me how many self-deluded people there are out there that believe they have a chance to win. Like most every other timed challenge online, this will be won by a computer geek with specially programmed plugins to auto click as needed.

I got through to the final phase of Lost In Forks and was able to make it through fair and square, but it really does disappoint me that there are answers already posted all over the web. Be careful though! I’ve seen a lot of WRONG answers posted along with the right ones, so if your plan is to cheat, I hope it turns around to bite you in the keaster.
I happen to know for a fact that there is software out there (very expensive software) that can track an individual once they’ve given out their email address. They can tell what browser you used, how long you spent on the page, what page(s) you visited and most importantly your exact location via IP address. If I were to try to enter again with a different email address it wouldn’t matter, they would know. I’m sure Volvo is smart enough to have thought of this, and I AM glad to see a lot of answers and hints continue to be deleted from forums.
I have a lot of confidence that the winner will be a fair one… and I hope it’s me.

Did the final phase last evening…it was easier than I expected. Spent a great deal of “study” in preparation for the final questions…really no need. I did not have lags or delays.

i’m able to load the game but i dont understand why they make the stupid animations and transitions between the turns. i don’t understand why they still time you while you fill out your information too. i was able to complete mine in about 1:45, did anyone finish it faster?
July 14th, 2010 at 1:05 pm
@Ross There are lots of people claiming they’ve done it in a minute or less. Some of those appear to have cheated by using multiple emails or computer programs that allow them to click faster. They may be eliminated, they may not. We’ll find out on July 26th.
July 14th, 2010 at 1:34 pm
I did it last night and didn’t have any problems getting through. Unfortunately, I wasn’t paying enough attention at the end and missed one of the questions. No new car for me. =[
July 14th, 2010 at 2:24 pm
ross is that including the 30 second time?
July 14th, 2010 at 3:58 pm
I read the rules and you can enter as many times as you like. The fastest time will win.. It is the same way as the first phase.. so if you remember it, you will have no problems….
July 14th, 2010 at 10:53 pm
i finished quick….i thought it was going to be very complicated for the final phase…i finished probably in less than a minute. does the questions determine if you win or not? please someone let me know? i missed one…and it was the easiest.

Lisa, read the rules again.
Tiffani, yes the questions count. If you got one wrong, no car for you.
July 15th, 2010 at 11:05 am
I guess none of us can really say for sure about the rules and how the winner will be decided, but from reading the Official Rules several times…
I don’t think the answers to the questions are even important. No where in the rules does it say you have to get all three answers right. It just says that the person who gets to the Cullens, answers the questions and hits “submit” the fastest will win. So… someone could’ve hurried to the Cullens, clicked three answers quickly (right or wrong) and hit submit really fast and they’ll be the winner. So all of this talk about giving away the answers might not matter anyway. I thought about just clicking answers but I thought MAYBE you need to get the answers right, too. But we just don’t know.
Read the rules again though. It NEVER says your answers have to be correct.
July 15th, 2010 at 11:06 am
And Lisa, that is NOT true.
“FINALISTS MAY ONLY ATTEMPT THE FINAL PHASE ONCE. PLAYS RECEIVED FROM ANY FINALIST OR EMAIL ADDRESS IN EXCESS OF THE STATED LIMITATION FOR THE FINAL PHASE WILL BE VOID.”
That’s taken from the last two lines of the paragraph about the Final Phase.
July 15th, 2010 at 11:32 am
I agree with No One, I have read the rules a thousand times…and nowhere does it state that the questions have to be correct in order to win the car… it’s say who gets to the Cullen house the fastest and submit the information as well. And for people who are posting the questions and answers..i hope the get disqualified, that is unfair to the rest of the finalist who actually worked for it.
July 15th, 2010 at 12:16 pm
Gosh, I really wish they would get disqualified, too. But unfortunately, in the world we live in today, it’s so easy to get away with doing the wrong thing. I mean, there’s really no way the Volvo people could track down everyone that cheated and find out who they REALLY are to disqualify them. Unfortunately, chances are that a cheater is going to win the car. But, we should all feel good knowing we did it honestly and gave it our best shot.
And in the end, what goes around comes around.
July 15th, 2010 at 9:06 pm
You might be surprised what can be tracked nowadays. Big brother is watching…
July 16th, 2010 at 9:49 am
No One: The official rules do state that the answers must be correct. “…view the scene and, after the “eclipse”, correctly answer the three (3) questions about the scene in the shortest amount of time from the Start until they press the “submit” button.” Sorry
July 16th, 2010 at 5:05 pm
The Finalist who participates in the Final Phase and reaches the Cullen’s House again, views the presented scene and, after the “eclipse”, answers all three (3) questions about the scene correctly in the shortest amount of time will be deemed the Grand Prize winner, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules.

Has anyone playing the CANADIAN version of L.I.F. received notification of advancing to phase 2 yet? It is supposed to run 19-21 July, but I haven’t received a confirmation email. Perhaps 11 forks is not the shortest route in Canada??
Thoughts??
July 17th, 2010 at 10:50 pm
@pt I made it in 11 here in the states and never got a confirmation either. My feeling is that perhaps only a set number of players made it to the final phase.
July 18th, 2010 at 12:08 pm
I haven’t received my Cdn confirmation either. I did get one from the US game. (I realized after I played that I wasn’t eligible and then found the Cdn site.) The rules state the everyone who makes it in the shortest route qualifies for the final.
Has anyone received a Cdn confirmation yet?
July 18th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
@pt My son and I mapped it out and the games are identical so 11 is the shortest route.
July 18th, 2010 at 12:13 pm
It’s also interesting that the US version says “finalists were contacted with a link. Thank you for playing”. Whereas the Cdn site just says “Contest is closed. Thanks to everyone who played. See you next year.”

Thanks admin and Co. It would be disappointing not to advance to phase 2, but I enjoyed the challenge of mapping out phase 1. I don’t think I will ever look at a fork in the road quite the same way, now!
The blog has been fun and I have especially enjoyed WP and Kim – it was big of you both to make up and I wish you well.
My condolonces to Admin for not advancing either, especially since you have put so much work into the website etc.
July 19th, 2010 at 9:29 am
I haven’t received an email either for Canadian one – and I got 11 for that too… hmmm.
July 19th, 2010 at 12:51 pm
I finally received my confirmation for Phase 2 in Canada – it arrived today, but only AFTER the final phase has already started. Weird!
Good luck, all.
July 19th, 2010 at 11:32 pm
when will the winner be announced?
July 20th, 2010 at 12:05 am
I got it for the Canadian one to.
The contest is so unfair to people with slower internet. It lagged SO badly for me. Frustrating.
