Potter vs Cullen
Before Twilight and the vampire craze you may remember a handful of blockbuster films about a young wizard named Harry Potter…In just over a month this young wizard will return to the big screen after a two year hiatus from the box office. However with New Moon in full production and fans dying to sink their teeth into anything and everything Twilight, I can’t help but wonder if the success of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will feel any of the impact of the Twilight craze.

In 2005 I was killed by a pasty white wizard. In 2008 I returned to the big screen as a pasty white vampire...FML.
You might recall that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was originally slotted to release on November 21, 2008, but was pushed back so that Warner Bros. could cope with the writers strikes and poor market that plagued the entertainment industry last year. Summit Entertainment on the other hand took a bad situation and made good of it by bumping up the release of Twilight by three weeks to fill the November 21 spot. Since then the Twilight saga, it’s characters, and the books have grown significantly in popularity and with 3 more films planned for release it shows no sign of slowing.
In the past network entertainment shows like Entertainment Tonight, Extra, and Access Hollywood have always hyped the Potter films months in advance, but now the shows and their respective websites seem to have shifted their focus to the Twilight craze.
What are your thoughts? Do you think that the Twilight craze is going to hurt publicity of the Potter film, or will its established fan base help to keep the franchise alive?

At this point I don’t think anything could hurt Harry Potter.
I love both series – so I mean no disrespect to either
But Harry Potter has already got it’s followers and i wouldn’t be surprised if a good percentage of those followers are part of the Twilight phenomenon as well
So really, Harry Potter can’t fail

Checkit out. Potter and Twilight go a long way back in the comparison and Imma tell you this right now: Potter always wins. Potter has the wider fan base, and a dedicated core of fans. As far as movies, it’s got better effects and, arguably better drama (for a wider audience anyway).
The Potter movie is getting its typical bout of attention. It’s just hard for your to see, you have two rabid Twilighters screaming in your ear.
. Yes, the hype for New Moon is greater, but that’s only because Twilighters are – for whatever reason – a lot more vocal about their passion than the Potterites.
As far as box office…I’d bet on Potter to take the most bling for the year, but we’ll see. New Moon is definitely gonna pack a punch.

Well edward is cool and harry is cool too. I like both of them very much. But there must be any competition between them. They are both famous equally, i think so.
