Twilight Fans More Prone To STD’s

November 10th, 2009 by Mike

Perhaps it’s the burning sexual tension between Bella and Edward that in the end results in an amazing night of passion and pillow feathers; or perhaps it’s a young girls desire to experience an intense forbidden love like that of Bella and Edward’s, but whatever the case the folks at HPV.com seem to think that Twilight fans are a select demographic that need to learn about the risks of HPV (human papillomavirus).

Today as Kristina was scanning the net for all things Twilight she stumbled upon an article about how Twilight author Stephenie Meyer will appear on Oprah, but what caught her eye next was a Twilight themed HPV ad on the page.  She sent the page to me for clarification and sure enough, not one, but two ads on the page were Twilight themed ads for HPV.com.  Below are the three frames from the main banner ad that appeared on the side of the page.

So remember kids; play it safe. Twilight fans might not really be more prone to STD’s, but the next time you want to role play in the bedroom as Edward and Bella, or you’re considering doing it Jacobstyle, there can be risks involved.

The idea that Twilight fans are more likely to contract STDs is ridiculous. What seems more likely is that the HPV vaccine helps to prevent cervical cancer, but is only effective when given to girls in their teens. What’s completely tasteless is that pharmeceutical companies are capitalizing on the Twilight mania, and making look like something it’s not. Poor advertising taste in my opinion….
