New Moon Speculation – Edward Cullen Is a Dirty Boy
I went to see Harry Potter this morning (disappointing, but enough about that) and was rewarded by finally, FINALLY, seeing my beautiful trailer on the big screen. Previous to this I seemed to always choose the one theater where it was NOT playing. While I stared at it, giggling like a school girl, I noticed something I had not before.
Edward's Blue Shirt
Mmkay – so what right? So he has a blue shirt on, aren’t you missing the importance of the whole OMG Edward is leaving Bella scene? Hardly – that’s why it took me this long to notice.

Try to pay attention to the shirt
It's blue!
Is he wearing the same shirt he was wearing when he told her good-bye? Well, let’s look at the rest of the outfit. Er, I’ve cut out the distracting parts to help you concentrate.
Now – keep in mind the film picture on the left is from the trailer which means it’s finished product (filmed with the deeper lighting and lens director Chris Weitz uses) and the picture on the right is behind the scenes, captured by a regular camera. I KNOW those are the same shoes – but it’s quite possible those are the same pants too.
The suggestion here is that Edward hasn’t changed his clothes in 6 months. I know, I know – vampires don’t sweat, but clothes get dirty regardless. If this is true, I agree wholeheartedly with the costuming choice as a visual reminder of Edward’s extreme depression.

Lol, of the three of us that run this website I’m easily the scariest at noticing the weirdest thing. Hahaha! Obsession is awesome.
Dude, I am trying not to die in small bits at a time – for instance, currently trying not to die waiting for the Comic Con clips which will include an action scene AND a love scene.
If I think about November I might explode.

PS – welcome to the site!

@Jac I do! However, in filmmaking, every choice made is concious. Costumes are chosen to portray SOME message – for instance, in Twilight, Bella’s clothing at first was more tom-boyish and as she fell in love became more feminine.
But it’s just speculation anyway.

so you think that they chose to portray Edward as heartbroken by having him never change his clothes?
lol that’s a pretty good thought… kudos
no sarcasm either… a)i never would have noticed the same clothing b) i never would have made any connections
i think i’m losing my touch

::quirks eyebrow::
First of all, if you see anything on this blog, you would understand that Rob is my number one man for life.
Secondly, had you actually read the article, you would realize that this was early speculation on what the movie New Moon would contain…and I was right. Edward didn’t change his shirt…which would speak to his level of distress at leaving Bella.
I don’t believe I said anything about his stink.
Please note the last line of the article:
If this is true, I agree wholeheartedly with the costuming choice as a visual reminder of Edward’s extreme depression.
Hmmm, mayhap a bit more practicing what you preach and a little less only reading the headlines?

Who cares ? its just showing that he’s so depressed that he couoldn’t even change his clothes. Btw, its a movie they do wash the clothes, then he puts it back on so he’s not dirty.
