More Vampy Goodness To Sink Your Teeth Into From EW

July 18th, 2009 by Mike

It doesn’t hit newsstands until July 24, but the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly has some vampy goodness for everyone.  In their Comic-Con Preview 2009 they cover two vampire stories.  First a brief look at The Vampire Diaries, a new show debuting this fall on The CW.  The show is an adaptation of the novels from LJ Smith.  The novels which came out before Twilight feature a sexy vampire named Stefan who has a forbidden love affair with a teen named Elena.  Sound familiar?

Though it sounds like Twilight for TV the shows producer Kevin Williamson tells Entertainment Weekly that, “They get very Buffy the Vampire Slayer-ish.”

The Comic-Con Preview also sheds some light on the new Twilight graphic novel. While there has been speculation about the graphical adaptation for a while, Entertainment Weekly confirms that publishers have two volumes in the works by Korean artist Young Kim with a heavy influence from Stephenie Meyer.  Kurt Hassler, the publishing director for Yen Press, says that “Stephenie is reviewing every page, every panel.  People should feel like they are getting a rare glimpse inside her vision of the property.”  While an official release date hasn’t been announced the Entertainment Weekly article has a sketches of Edward Cullen, Jacob Black, and Bella Swan.

Finally the issue wraps up it’s vampy goodness with a three page piece on HBO’s True Blood.  The article dives into the current season of the show and includes a handful of spoilers.  The article also features another two page spread from the photoshoot that was seen in the June 26 double issue of Entertainment Weekly.
