New Moon Takes Over 106.7 KROQ

If you’re in the L.A. area and you don’t listen to 106.7 KROQ, this is the week to do it.  All this week the station is giving away tickets to an early screening of New Moon during the Kevin and Bean morning show.  If that weren’t enough, the station’s night DJ Nicole Alvarez is giving away passes to get in on the sold out New Moon tour at Hollywood & Highland  featuring Kellan Lutz “Emmett”, Nikki Reed “Rosalie”, Jamie Campbell Bower “Caius”, Alex Meraz “Paul”, Kiowa Gordon “Embry”, Ashley Greene “Alice”, Elizabeth Reaser “Esme”, and Chaske Spencer “Sam” with performances by the New Moon soundtrack bands, Band of Skulls, Sea Wolf, Anya Marina, and Death Cab For Cutie.

In today’s music news podcast, KROQ DJ Kat Corbett featured an interview with Death Cab For Cutie bassist Nick Harmer where he talked about their song, and first single from the New Moon Soundtrack, ‘Meet Me On The Equinox’. Interestingly enough we find out that though the song is exclusive to the soundtrack, it wasn’t written specifically for the film.

“I mean, it just seemed like a really easy fit.  Like, we didn’t have to sit down and we certainly didn’t go to a screening room and watch any top secret footage and have to write a song after that, although that would have been really exciting, but maybe next time.  This time it was more about polishing up a song we already had kind of sitting with us, so…”

Tomorrow during the Kevin and Bean morning show the band Death Cab For Cutie will be in the studio and they will also be interviewing Kellan Lutz, who of course plays Emmett in Twilight Saga films.  If you don’t live in the L.A. area the station streams online at kroq.com so you can catch all the New Moon action from anywhere you have an internet connection.
