New Moon Speculation: New Cullen Crest Jewelry

Um, hello. Why is no one talking about the gigantic pink elephant in the room?

Look – I know that I’m not the only one that frequents Hot Topic and Borders for New Moon merch. So why have I not heard anything about what’s up with this?!

Here’s the thing. We all know that Hot Topic and Borders both sell a whole bunch of jewelry type stuff that has nothing to do with the movies. But the difference here is that it says prop replica on the box. That, my friends, is a whole world of difference. The implication here is that SOMETIME during New Moon, Bella gets her own little (apparently Christmas themed – wtf?) welcome to the family. I honestly hope this is true! The Vote is so symbolic of truly accepting Bella as a Cullen.

Now, I don’t expect them – if this is true – to call attention to the ring. Just like they don’t even mention in Twilight what the crest they are all wearing is, I expect that if this ring does make an appearance it will be a silent one. Trust me – I’ve scoured every New Moon pic and I have yet to see it on Bella’s fingers, but there are not a whole lot of images that show her fingers clearly either. Definitely something I’m going to be looking for…if I can see through my tears.

That was curious enough, but then I also saw this little bit.

Hmmm.  This one makes even less sense than the previous. I mean, I think it’s neat because you don’t really get to see any of the Cullens, except Rosalie, really relate to their former families. Perhaps this ring comes into play when Carlisle talks about Elizabeth Masen and how it was her that asked Carlisle to save Edward? Look, all I’m saying is that I spend a fairly good amount of time staring at Edward’s fingers. I think I would have noticed if he was wearing a ring at some point.

Least curious was the following bracelet that I found at Border’s. It’s labeled, at the store, as Alice’s.

I say this is least curious because it fits Alice’s personality that she have many, many ways to accessorize her family crest. In other words, I see it as easy to work into the storyline naturally. That’s not the case with the other two. Obviously, Edward hasn’t worn a ring before and Bella hasn’t worn the Cullen Crest before.

Personally, I adore the way they’re working crests (or in the wolves case, tattoos) into the series. I loved the idea when I saw Twilight – how each of them had a piece that fit their personality at the same time it showed their loyalty to each other. I certainly hope these are truly prop replicas and we can spot them at some point during the movie.
