Twilight Composer Carter Burwell To Be Honored By ASCAP
According to a press release from ASCAP; Carter Burwell, the film composer for Twilight, will be honored today at the ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Burwell will be honored with the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award for Career Achievement, an award which recognizes the outstanding achievements and contributions to film and television music. Previous recipients include John Debney, Mark Isham, Quincy Jones, Michel Legrand, Randy Newman, James Newton Howard, Johnny Mandel, Marc Shaiman, Howard Shore, Alan Silvestri, and Hans Zimmer, among others.
ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams had this to say about the award to Burwell:
“Carter’s unusual and unique music has been integrated into an astonishing variety of films over the past twenty-five years, from risk-taking independent films to summer blockbusters, earning him much recognition around the world. We are very proud to celebrate his achievements by honoring him with ASCAP’s Henry Mancini Award.”
Burwell has scored over 70 films including the 2008 Blockbuster Twilight and is currently working on the highly anticipated film Where the Wild Things Are
